German Riesling is one of the world’s great wine treasures. UK expert Tom Stevenson writes: “No other wine can offer in a single sip as much finesse, purity of fruit, intensity of flavour and thrilling acidity.” The Naegele Bonnet family have been growing Riesling in Hambach in the Pfalz region since 1796. The Naegele name is closely intertwined with the history of the village and the region’s magnificent wines. Today the estate’s run by the seventh generation, Eva and Ralf Bonnet. The Pfalz is known for brisk Rieslings with more weight and ripe apricot roundness than the Mosel, but still with intense citrus and mineral freshness. All of which this wine delivers in spades while boasting a Gold medal. Great solo, with fish or Asian dishes.
