The Story Behind the Bottle
Château La Violette boasts less than two hectares of vines on the Pomerol plateau, but affords its grapes premium luxury. Super low yields, hand destemming and microvinifications in barrel result in a luscious-textured, deep and long- flavoured claret with velvet tannins and terrific length. It was the life’s work of Catherine Péré-Vergé, who ran this domaine until she passed away in 2013. The legend wine, however, lives on. Suckling called it, “An opulent red with blackberry, licorice, cola and vanilla undertones. It’s full-bodied with polished tannins that are very fine-textured. It’s long and linear with energy.” It’ll age magnificently.
