The Wine
This Cru Classé estate lies in the finest part of the Graves, the Pessac-Léognan. Part of the Laurent Perrier empire until 1997, it was sold to a Belgian family, Michèle and Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, who are still owners today. New to wine (they made their fortune in detergent), they took advice and invested heavily in both vineyard and cellar, increasing hectares from 19 to 73! Their son and daughter-in-law, Jean-Jacques and Sévèrine, now run the property, dedicated to sustainable methods in the vineyard. Quality has risen steadily, with the introduction of a second wine and stricter selection of grapes. Aged for 14 months in finest French oak barrels, two thirds new, this wine is a mere infant. Tuck away for at least a decade if you can.
