Chat with Vinny
There’s much to commend this impressively layered 90-92pt red. It’s from one of Burgundy’s best known family domaines, Drouhin, the 'king' of Burgundy wine villages, Gevrey-Chambertin, and the superb, expressive 2019 vintage. Layered, ripe and long.

Maison Drouhin was established in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin and has remained a family affair ever since. It's run nowadays by the fourth generation - Frédéric has taken overall control from his father Robert, while his brother Philippe and sister Véronique now look after the vineyards and winemaking respectively. The estate itself occupies the Parliament building, one of the most beautiful cellars in all of Beaune, originating from the time when Burgundy was an independent duchy. This classic Pinot Noir uses grapes from their fine Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards, most of those now organic and biodynamic, with a small portion from 1er cru La Romanée. Layered with ripe berry and leafy complexity, it's superb with chicken with wild mushrooms.
