Boscwood Petit Verdot Shiraz 2019

South Australia

Enjoy generous velvety, black fruit in this dark red. It's from a family winery with the largest plantings of Petit Verdot in Oz. There they cleverly blend it with the blackberry spice of Aussie stalwart Shiraz. Satisfyingly weighty and smooth.

You don’t often see intensely dark Petit Verdot blended with spicy rich Shiraz. It's native to Bordeaux, where you'll find it blended to add generous tannins and inky depths to French reds. In Australia's heat, however, those tannins are tamed and it brings peppery notes and dense fruit to the party. Add in Shiraz's characteristic bramble fruit, with a rich helping of smoky spice, and the result is this tasty red. It's from a 60 year old winery that's family run from top to toe. With the largest plantings of Petit Verdot in Oz, they know how to make the grape shine. For this 5-Star red they use small, top quality, cool climate parcels from select vineyards. Deliciously dark, it's a red to be enjoyed with grilled meats or veggie stews.
