The Wine
When it comes to winemaking heritage, Marc Olivier Buffet has centuries of it! His family first began growing grapes in 1692, making their domaine, tucked behind the village church, one of the oldest in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Volnay is the star appellation of this area and also Marc’s forte, along with fine Pommard and Savigny Lès Beaune, every one of his wines sensationally silky, supple Pinot Noir. Now one of Marc’s daughter has joined him at the domaine, so the continuity of this great estate is assured. This his superb village Volnay - berry and subtle rose petal aromas preface generous, ripe, red berries with silky tannins, a complex, earthy leafy layer and subtle spice from the 22 months in oak.
