The Wine
Scottish-born Bordeaux wine merchant, John Lewish Brown, bought the Cantenac vineyard in 1806. Thanks to his meticulous standards and hard work, the estate was classified a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Today, Cantenac Brown is run by owner Tristan Le Lous and winemaker José Sanfins. Together, they are currently undertaking an unrivalled project – the eco-construction of a new, raw-earth wine cellar, in line with the shared quest for excellence with as little impact as possible on the environment. This 2022 has been praised by critics, with Wine Advocate saying it is “The finest wine that José Sanfins has produced to date”. Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant with Merlot, aged in French oak (60% new), a suave Margaux.
