The Wine
Château d'Armailhac, a 5ème Cru Classé Pauillac property, is located immediately next to its owners, Château Mouton Rothschild. The same team guides its winemaking. It's also home to some of the oldest vines in the Médoc, with plantings dating back to 1890. Their 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, matured in a combination of new oak barrels (50%). It’s the second vintage to be made in the new winery. A fine Pauillac with vibrant blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry flavours with notes of violet, orange and espresso. Tight and racy, with lovely balance and poise, it will benefit cellaring. Wines of this estate have improved significantly over the last decade or so, and this is an excellent Pauillac.
