In the words of wine expert Andrew Jefford, Chablis is “quite unlike any other wine on earth” – a claim exemplified by this fabulous Grand Cru from the great Domaine Long Depaquit. This historic property, family owned from 1791 and the only one to lie in the village of Chablis, was bought in 1967 by one of the most impressive houses in Burgundy, Maison Albert Bichot (awarded ‘International Winemaker of the Year’ for both red and white wines. Although the domaine is still run autonomously, it helps to have such power and prestige behind it! Winemaker Matthieu Mangenot has produced in this great vintage an intense wine with superb freshness and subtle oak from six months in barrel. Serve cool with fine seafood or with roast poussin.
