Domaine Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chenevottes 2019

Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru AOC

Critic William Kelley writes of Philippe Colin, "his style is pure and elegant, beautifully defined by site", a domaine that is very much under-the-radar. A Chassagne specialist, his top-vintage 2019 1er Cru has energetic drive and pristine fruit.

This outstanding 11.5 hectare domaine lies at the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, with most holdings Premier Cru and on the Puligny side. The domaine used to be part of Colin-Deleger, but Philippe and his brother, Bruno, decided to go their separate ways in 2004. Since then Philippe's wines have received much praise: "clearly the domaine flies somewhat under the radar when one considers the quality to be found in the bottle." (WK) His style is very pure, with only a little lees stirring and a light touch of oak (part new but often in large-sized barrels), producing wines with a tight core, grippy minerality and succulent, ripe fruit. A very fine Chassagne Premier Cru from this exemplary, ripe vintage. Still tightly bound, it's one to cellar.

"More fruit than oak, definitely a lime infusion running through with plenty of energy, softer fruit" Insider Burgundy
