Antoine Jobard took over the 5 hectare estate from his father 12 years ago and still today produces a mere 2,000 cases a year. He has developed an increasingly mineral-driven, citrusy style, illustrated in this superb lieu-dit Meursault. The grapes of the special plot produce a very tightly bound, tense and racy style, yet with evidence of a wealth of ripe fruit that will come to the fore in time. Jobard wines tend to be light on oak, with lees ageing, but no stirring, again to retain the citrus tension. This Meursault has a lean, mineral edge, with great complexity and elegance that'll age like a dream. For now, open early, decant, then serve in large-bowled glasses. Classic partners include bourride (fish stew) or buttered chicken.
