Robert Parker sums it up: “Courbis is a name to watch in the Northern Rhone", "an immaculate estate". The domaine dates back to 1587 and has been making knockout wines in Saint-Joseph for many years, and in Cornas next door since 1982. Today brothers Dominique and Laurent Courbis combine family tradition with a youthful energy and modern style. The result has been international recognition and some truly outstanding wines. Indeed, theirs are considered some of the most compelling examples of Saint-Joseph and Cornas today. This pure Syrah red from its southfacing plot on stony granite soils makes wines for ageing. More powerful, weighty and intense than the already sumptuous village St-Jo, this red aged 50% in new oak will repay cellaring.

"Fruity and ripe on the full-bodied palate, with plenty of richness on the mocha-tinged finish" Joe Czerwinski
