Critic Neal Martin was full of praise for this third-generation family producer, saying “Drouhin continues to demonstrate what a class act they have become.” Maison Drouhin was founded 130 years ago and is now run by the four grandchildren of the original owner. Their magnificent portfolio extends from Chablis to the Mâconnais. They are firm believers in organic and biodynamic viticulture, part of their philosophy of meticulous attention to detail throughout their range. The superb 2019 vintage yielded small volumes of beautifully poised, intensely flavoured grapes. 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels (25% new) added complexity and toasted almond notes to this fin-boned white. Drinking now but open early, or it has potential to age.
