This mesmerising 2022 is from one of very few elite châteaux creating claret of a quality that can compete with neighbouring First Growth estates. Leading critic James Suckling was full of praise for the wine: "focused with superb fruit and transparency", "racy with a super fine texture", "what a finish on this Pontet-Canet”, while Antonio Galloni says “I very much admire the precision and vibrancy here”. The château has worked tirelessly to maximise quality over recent decades, introducing certified biodynamic farming and partial maturation in amphorae. These vessels help to bring out the gorgeously ample fruit it dazzles with. There’s a notable freshness to this 2022 which balances the opulence and gives great ageing potential.
