The Wine
The tiny appellation of Pomerol is home to the world's greatest Merlot, and some of the finest, most sought-after Bordeaux of all. None more so than the wines made by the Moueix family, responsible for legendary Château Pétrus as well as La Fleur-Pétrus, its impeccable sister property. 2022 was another hot Bordeaux vintage, but its wines show a lovely freshness too, and as Jancis Robinson said: “all observers are agreed that in 2022 Merlot shone”. Hand-harvested grapes, 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petit Verdot, are long-aged in 50% new oak barriques to produce a beautifully elegant and refined Pomerol. “Great energy and focus with cool black and blue fruits, a salty minerality and toasted liquorice” (Decanter). Best after 2030.

Enormously powerful, but so well caged right now, pure, clean, intense and cool. A fabulous wine
