The Wine
Pessac-Léognan is rare in that its reputation is built on both reds and whites, and Domaine de Chevalier produces top wines in both. Olivier Bernard took over the estate in 1983 (he was just 23) and the family invested heavily. Today the pay off is evident and it's a leading château of Bordeaux. 2023 is Olivier's 40th year in charge and he has celebrated the fact with the commissioning of a special label for both 2022 releases. Every year Domaine de Chevalier produces one of the finest whites of Bordeaux, and the 2022 is up there with the best. A 70/30 blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, it was fermented and aged for 16-18 months in a third new oak. Intense, layered, nuanced and racy, this is a great white to cellar. "Stunning" (Vinous).
