Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a well regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board the quality has really soared. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it as an independent concern, with the family still very much at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset is also part of the domaine’s ‘super team’; the result is some really impressive wines. Add in the quality of the 2018 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous brilliance you can look forward to. Pure oak-aged Syrah, silky, dense and long. Still young, the wine is best decanted beforehand. Ideal with lamb.
