Pauillac AOC 2ème Grand Cru Classé

As Robert Parker attests, “In many vintages, Château Pichon Lalande rivals and occasionally surpasses the three famous first growths of this commune”. The property lies next to Château Latour and shares much of its graceful power and complexity.

The Wine
Pichon Lalande makes one of the most popular of the great Second Growths. Thanks to manager Madame de Lencquesaing’s considerable investment in the vineyards and cellar in the 1980s, the property is now on top form. More recently, the estate was bought by Louis Roederer and Deutz Champagne, who wisely retained the talented winemaking team. The 2022 is a superb wine. It’s a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The Merlot – championed in the estate’s blend more so than in fellow Pauillac neighbours’ - was harvested in its prime adding a soft, round character. “Utterly seductive from the first sip, this is a stunning effort that shows the power of Pauillac in 2022 delivered with elegance and class” (Decanter).
