Gold medal, super grassy, lemon fresh Sauvignon from a high quality vintage, very low on yields. At his family’s Touraine cellar, Noël Bougrier searches out the best grapes and employs them in this tongue tingling, citrusy, aromatic white.

You couldn’t hope to find Sauvignon of this quality for the price in any of the Loire’s more famous regions. That’s even more true in the tiny, frost stricken 2017 vintage, especially when US consumers simply can’t get enough of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Blended from the year’s finest vats, Abbesse is as subtle and complex as it is refreshing and zingy. It’s made exclusively for us by our trusted friend Franck Chatelain at Noël Bougrier’s renowned cellar in the Touraine. The original Abbesse was one Louise de Bourbon of the nearby Abbaye de Fontevraud and a major figure in Loire history. This delicious expression of the region’s reigning grape is a fitting tribute to her. Delicious on its own, it also goes well with goat’s cheese and fish.

"Great European Sauvignon. Excellent, crisp, dry white. Great value. Who needs New Zealand?!" Online Review
