Saracosa Governo Rosso 2017
Toscana IGT

With 98 points from wine guru Luca Maroni, Saracosa Governo is sure to delight lovers of rich Italian reds. You’ll be swept away by its black cherry intensity, cocoa, coffee and oak spice complexity, turbo charged from using part air dried grapes.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Fans of our usual Saracosa will be bowled over by the intensity of its big brother, Governo. Suave and seductive, this is a full, rounded blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, aged for four months in small oak barrels. What’s more, a portion of grapes were left to dry for 20 days, adding terrific concentration to the wine. It is a method dating from the 14th century, known as Governo in Tuscany. We think this wine is nothing short of spectacular – no wonder it has already been awarded a whopping 98 points from Italian wine critic Luca Maroni. It’s a testament to the talents of Sofia Barbanera, fourth generation winemaker at this great Tuscan family estate. Decant and serve with a local favourite – rabbit casserole, other game or slow-cooked beef.

Love, love, love this wine. Deep, sophisticated, a true delight to open and enjoy, this one’s a must
