St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2015

St Hallett is a highly regarded winery in the premium Barossa Valley. It was founded in 1944 by Bill Lindner, who converted the old slaughterhouse and broke with the family’s tradition as butchers. As with most cellars at the time, they gained a reputation for fortified wines, which changed to table wines in the 1980s with the release of the formidable Old Block Shiraz. Blackwell Shiraz uses grapes sourced from the northwest corner of the valley in Ebenezer, Greenock and Seppeltsfield. This great Shiraz is named after their Senior Winemaker, Stuart Blackwell, who takes great care in matching each separate batch of wine to its optimum oak barrel. There the wine stays for two years, before he blends the parcels to make this trailblazing red.
