The Wine
In 1984 the Martínez Bujanda family completed a state of the art winery and then shot to fame with amazing wines. We started buying from them in the early days, the first to bring their wines to the UK, and we’ve worked closely with them since. They’ve won a huge haul of awards along the way, Brand of the Decade in the 1990s, and one of the Top Five Rioja Houses, both from Wine & Spirits magazine, USA, to name two. On our 50th anniversary they were delighted to make us a special Gran Reserva. It’s from a very good vintage, aged in barrel for 26 months, the rest in bottle. A blend of Tempranillo with portions of old vine Mazuelo and Garnacha to lend extra breadth of flavour and richness. Gorgeous, lavish and complex, as befits the occasion.
