The Wine
A crimson temptation. This irresistible black beauty is made from spicy Shiraz and berry-rich Grenache grapes that flourish on the hillsides of France’s deep south – the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Gaze up from the vines and you’ll see remnants of castles perched on rocky peaks, bearing witness to an inhospitable landscape that once harboured ancient strongholds. These hills were home to medieval Cathars, who lived in fear of evil god Rex Mundi, the ‘King of the World’. This wicked god seduced the faithful with the allure of earthly pleasures and the forbidden joys of mortal flesh. Yet, this wine lies at the heart of kindness – Hervé Sabardeil, our ‘King of the Black Reds’. You won’t be able to resist Rex Mundi – simply sip and savour.
