According to Wine Spectator, Portugal is “the most exciting wine place on the planet” and with delicious reds like this mellow Reserva, who wants to argue. From the grand Casa Santos Lima estate, it's velvet textured with luscious spicy black fruit.

The Wine
This rich and spicy, three-year-old Reserva is made by Casa Santos Lima, a grand Portuguese estate in the Lisboa region, just north of the capitol. João Santos Lima founded it in the 19th century and it has been in the same family for three generations. It is now one of the most awarded Portuguese producers in national and international wine competitions. From beautiful vineyards near Lisbon, the grapes bathe in the hot Portuguese sun, tempered by Atlantic Ocean breezes, producing this ripe, juicy yet well-structured wine. Portuga Reserva is a mellow, silky, oak-aged blend of traditional native varieties, with Cabernet and Syrah. Delicious savoured slowly on its own, or with grilled meats or tomato and aubergine bake with mozzarella.
