This sprightly frizzante, from a leading Bologna cellar, doesn't often reach UK shores. It's largely consumed by the locals! Light, fruity and delicious, this Italian charmer offers bright tropical fruit on a wave of crisp, bubbly refreshment.

The Wine
The Pignoletto grape is considered the "king of the Colli Bolognese wine zone", but few have heard of it outside the Emilia region in northern central Italy. Our buyer, Leo, had to use all his powers to persuade winemaker Daniele Artioli to part with cases of this, and it's proved a huge hit with customers. It's a highly quaffable, dry white using mainly Pignoletto (named after 'pigna' - the Italian for cone - due to the shape of its bunches) for its zippy green apple flavours, with a little citrusy Trebbiano and Muscat for its lift of grapey aromas. With its gentle fizz, it makes a delightful apéritif, perfect for sipping in the garden on a sunny afternoon. A tidy glass with summer fruits or whenever you want to add a little sparkle.
