The Wine
Away from the tourist beat coastline of Croatia, and deeper into the mountainous heart of the country lies Slavonia. The high altitude, lush, sunny hilltops provide an excellent environment for vine growing. Particularly in the southern slopes of Kutjevo, a renowned region for premium wines. Within this pocket of grape heaven lies an award-winning winery that’s so embedded in history it takes its name from the region itself. Founded in 1232, Kutjevo winery is the oldest in Croatia. This Gold medal cuvée is a perfect balance of Croatia’s finest white grape, Graševina, and the international superstar, Chardonnay. Hand harvested and aged in Slavonian oak barrels, this bright, appealing white has crisp apple fruit, with florals and minerality.
