Luna del Sur Malbec 2019
San Juan

Malbec is king of red grapes in Argentina. Most comes from the Mendoza region, but tucked away, a little further north, is San Juan. Enjoy in Luna del Sur lovely bright blackberry and plum fruit with a hint of cocoa and vanilla from a touch of oak.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Travel to western Argentina, close to the border with Chile and the snow topped Andes, and you'll come across the beautiful San Juan vineyards. While Mendoza steals the limelight with its Malbecs, San Juan remains its forgotten cousin. Yet its wines can be every bit as good. As Guardian columnist Gavin McOwan, wrote, "little-known San Juan province has wines of equal quality." There's some very historic landscapes here too, including Valle de Luna – a national park, with a lunar like landscape and a palaeontologist’s dream of dinosaur fossils. This is a modern, bright fruit Malbec, the name of which was inspired by this very special valley. Brimful of ripe berry notes, it's an easy going red on its own or with grilled meats or pesto pasta.
