Los Hermanos Manzanos Oak-Aged Rioja (half bottle) 2019

For an easy going red with silky fruit and plenty of character, this gently oaked Tempranillo hits the mark, bang on target. It’s the work of brothers David and Victor Manzanos, who learned to make fine Rioja from their father. When he died, the boys, still in their early 20s, quickly stepped up to the mark and have taken quality even higher. Their supple Tempranillo uses well ripened grapes from the family’s highest vineyards, aged for six months in French oak and then the rest in bottle. From the superb 2020 vintage, enhanced by the brothers’ expertise, this tasty Tempranillo offers just the right balance of silky ripe berry notes and oaky complexity. Handy in half-bottle siz, it's food friendly too - with tapas, chicken or spicy pilaf.
