L'Epiphanie de Stellenbosch 2018

Our Epiphanie label is usually reserved for very top wines from Bordeaux – Premier or Grand Cru Classé – from wineries that are willing to part with a little extra stock, as long as we don’t reveal the source. Here, however, we have a super, Grand Cru style red from an exceptional estate of South Africa with strong Bordeaux connections. It was founded by two legendary Bordeaux figures, who wanted to try winemaking further afield. Today their Cape wines have a tremendous reputation. This is their second wine, now with six years age – a powerful, balanced blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged 10 months in part new oak. Velvety, dark and textured – a real treat with roast beef or a rich venison casserole.
