The Wine
Our buyer Jean-Marc is Bordeaux born and bred, so unsurprisingly he has exceptional contacts throughout the region. It means that when top estates need wines clearing fast, he’s always first in line. We can't tell you the name of the château behind this secret claret, but we can share that it’s the flagship cuvée of a top-performing Right Bank estate, declassified to a humble ‘Bordeaux’. It’s a wine lavished with care from start to finish – with low yields, hand-sorting at the château, and ageing in the finest new French oak barrels. The 2023 reveals classic aromas of ripe plum, cassis and redcurrants with earthy spice and oak notes. Delicious now but will also age well … if you can resist the temptation.
