The Wine
When Familia Martínez Bujanda moved into their ultra modern winery in 1984, they amazed the world with their fruit rich, modern style Rioja. 30 years later, their wines still impress judges and consumers alike. They pride themselves on using only estate grown fruit, handcrafted by Gonzalo Ortiz, an expert winemaker who also sits on the approval board of the Rioja council (consejo) that taste-tests new vintages and awards them ratings. Familia Martínez Bujanda were the first winery we bought from in Spain back in the 1980s, and down the years they’ve remained one of our most supportive suppliers. This is benchmark modern Rioja with juicy red berry fruits and subtle, warming hints of spice. It goes very well with cured hams and grilled lamb.
