The Wine
Dönnhoff is one of the finest and most exciting family estates of Germany's Nahe. Dating back to 1750, it was headed up until recently by the founder's grandson Helmut Dönnhoff. The family are proud to own some of the finest vineyards in all Nahe. Recently Helmut handed over winemaking to his son, Cornelius, whom has "bottled probably the best wine series in the history of the domaine" said Wine Advocate's Stephen Reinhardt. Reinhardt also described the 2015 of this wine as "tension-filled, lovely, juicy and intense Riesling of great elegance, lightness and finesse." The all-organic grapes are grown on south southeast facing volcanic soil slopes in Oberhausen, Felsenberg and Kieselberg. Picked late, they have superb ripeness and intensity.
