The Wine
This fifth-generation family estate is integral to the history of Puligny-Montrachet and nearby villages. The founder, Jean-Edouard Dupard, was mayor of Puligny in 1873 when he arranged for the name Montrachet to be added to that of the village. Over the years they’ve built up vineyards to their current 14 hectares, much of it in the finest Premier and Grand Cru locations. Indeed they produce wines from 22 different appellations – 90% of them for white wine. Most of their vines have great maturity, the oldest over 70 years, all treated organically. However, a small portion of this white comes from the young vines of 1er Cru plot, Caillerets. Fermented and aged in 30% new barrels, this is a fine white. Open early and decant or cellar.
