If you enjoy seriously good Aussie wines and you’re partial to a bargain, you’ll love this concept. When premium cellars need to sell off excess stock in a hurry, they bottle them with plain labels – or ‘cleanskins’ – and sell them at low prices. Perhaps unsurprisingly, cleanskins seldom make it out of Oz because savvy locals snap them up fast. You need to be in the right place at the right time, so it pays to have wine buyer based Down Under, close to source. Like our Dan Parrott, who used his contacts to secure this velvety, rich Shiraz Cabernet. We aren't allowed to name the winery, but we don't think you'll mind once you taste the luxurious black and red fruit tones and the lush spicy finish. Great with rich pasta dishes or casseroles.
