Dunántúli

Pinot Noir is famous for making red Burgundies. But did you know it makes delicious pinks, too, including Sancerre rosé? This favourite comes from near Hungary’s Lake Balaton, and has subtle berry freshness and citrus similar to Provence’s best.

The Wine
What could be better for outdoor sipping than a cool glass of fresh, strawberry scented rosé? Especially when it’s made purely from Pinot Noir and bears the Campanula label, one of the bestselling ranges of wines on our list. They’re made by Gábor Laczkó, a leading light in the ancient vineyard region of Etyek Buda, northeast of Hungary’s Lake Balaton. Cooled by gentle breezes from the lake, the vineyards here are ideal for growing Pinot, the great grape of Burgundy. Gábor gives the fruit a feather-light pressing, extracting just enough colour to lend the wine its gorgeous light pink hue. It’s wonderfully aromatic with loads of fresh strawberry and raspberry flavour and a crisp finish. Great solo or with seafood or creamy vegetarian dishes.

Good, round flavour. Nice, red berry flavours but still dry enough. Went well with salmon
