Balfour Luke's Pinot Noir 2020
Kent

First we had a surge in reputation for English sparkling wines. Now the still ones are gaining huge acclaim. Thanks to a few degrees extra warmth, Pinot Noir ripens beautifully as shown in this lightly spiced cherry red from award-winning Hush Heath.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Hush Heath Manor dates back to the 16th century, but only became the home of Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn in the 1980s. It's an extensive 160-hectare estate, with just 16 of those planted with vines. That was in 2002, with a winery added in 2010. The vineyards are nurtured by the Turner family, who firmly believe in sustainability. They’ve planted hedgerows around each plot, which, combined with ancient oak woodlands, give Hush Heath its own microclimate, slightly warmer than the surrounding area – a big boon to ripening. Consultant winemaker is Owen Elias, six times ‘UK Winemaker of the Year’, who works with resident winemaker Victoria Ash. This is a very pretty, mid-weight red. Great with dishes from meaty fish to marinaded tofu.
