Stormy Cape Chenin Blanc 2019
Western Cape WO

Chenin Blanc has long been the main white grape of South Africa and here it's on fine racy form. Ripened in full Cape sunshine, yet ocean cooled, it's ripe in guava and passion fruit, yet lemony fresh with a snappy green apple finish. Refreshing.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Even 100 years back, Chenin Blanc was the favoured white grape of South Africa, popular thanks to its abundance of lemony acidity. Sadly it lost a bit of kudos during the 20th century when wineries were state run. High yields were the order of the day and the wines were anything but exciting. However, that has all changed and top winemakers are showing the true colour of their hero grape. They are keeping yields low, looking after the vineyards and picking just at the right moment to produce the intense fruity style you'll find here. Stormy Cape is a spritely white from one of Western Cape's most up to date co-operatives. Fermentation in stainless steel and early bottling ensures maximum fruit. A great wine solo or with spicy seafood.
