When you look at Saint Clair’s track record, there’s no doubt that it is one of New Zealand’s elite estates. As well as their multiple Winery and Winemaker of the Year awards, they have won many prizes including the Perpetual Trophy for Best Sauvignon at the Sydney Show in 2016 and the same Trophy this year for being the most successful in competition. Neal and Judy Ibbotson planted vineyards in Marlborough in 1978, well ahead of the wave that popped up in the late ’80s and ’90s. This intense, dazzling fresh Sauvignon Blanc uses grapes from Dillons Point, a prized subregion of Marlborough. Named after one of the area’s very early settlers, the Honourable Constantine Dillon, it brings tropical fruit to a wine. A terrific seafood white.
