Unlock the secrets behind Italy’s most indulgent red …
Amarone is Italy’s darkest, richest, most soulful red … and oh-so-welcome as the long nights and cold weather draw in.
This tasting is your chance to dig deep into the pleasures of Amarone with one of our favourite producers, Cantina de Negrar. A former Winery of the Year, this 87-year-old estate works with some of the best small growers in the region. You’ll be joined from the winery by Brand Ambassador, Francesca Marastoni. She’ll walk you through the winery, the Cantina and – most importantly – reveal the secrets of Amarone’s greatest trick, the appassimento technique that dries grapes into tiny black pearls of concentrated flavour.
A good Amarone to sip as you watch is essential, of course, and here you’ll find three of the best we’ve tasted, including Cantina de Negrar’s magnificent La Tirela.
By clicking here your place will be booked with purchase of the 3 wines, please do so by 25th November to ensure they arrive in time.

A taste of May in December – a German wine masterclass with Peter and Fritz May
Join brothers Peter and Fritz May for a German wine tasting with a difference. You see, unlike most of their compatriots, the May family has a fine reputation for reds as well as whites. In fact, Peter and Fritz have sparked a bit of a red wine revolution in the warm, sun-drenched region of the Rheinhessen, southern Germany. Taste why as the brothers talk you through two of their top Pinot Noirs. Both wines are silky smooth and bursting with raspberry and strawberry juiciness. They will also be opening their Kabinett Riesling, a mouth-watering white that’s alive with green apple and gentle citrus flavours.
Find out all about the brothers’ historic estate (owned by the May family since 1815) and their love for the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards of the Rheinhessen.
By clicking here your place will be booked with purchase of the 3 wines, please do so by 2nd December to ensure they arrive in time.
