From a Fairtrade winery, with people and community at its heart, The Escapist is a deliciously bright, fresh white. It’s made from pure Chenin Blanc, arguably the top white grape of the Cape. Intensely lemony, with a touch of floral. Very refreshing.

Our buyer, Becca, was on the hunt for the brightest, freshest, best-value Chenin Blanc she could find. And despite the tricksy nature of this natural escapologist, she found the exact wine. The magician behind the artful Escapist is the talented Brenda Thiart, who heads up the cellar at this well-established, community-minded, Fairtrade winery in the Olifants River region. Its origins date back to 1700 and today over 100 growers supply the cellar with their finest grapes, naturally cooled by the breezes from the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Hence the delicious freshness of this white, perfectly balanced by its ripe fruit. Chill the bottle well and it’ll make a great glass on its own or with seafood. Try it with a spicy stir-fry too.
