Since Stéphane Robert and his wife Sandrine founded their domaine in 1994 they have attracted enormous praise from the likes of Decanter, Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. The 10 hectare property stretches across three prestigious appellations – Cornas, Saint Joseph and Saint Péray – and their wines have become reference points for all three. Stunning complexity, richness, intensity and poise are apparent in every wine. Saint Joseph is one of the less well known northern Rhône appellations, producing pure Syrah reds, just like Hermitage a little to the south. Indeed, Stéphane was an apprentice at Domaine Jean-Louis Grippat – the beacon of Saint Joseph. Aged for 14 months in old oak barrels, this red is complex, layered and deliciously long.
