A silky, supple blackberry and cherry red - everyone's new favourite! It's made by 4th-generation winemaker Daniele and top consultant Matteo Bernabei. From south of Lake Garda, it's a luscious blend of native Ancellotta and Bordeaux's Petit Verdot.

Cantine Malavasi is a beautiful wine estate, which mainly produces Lugana - the wine everyone's after - on the southern tip of Lake Garda. Daniele is the 4th-generation winemaker – all heart and tradition. Respect for the land is at the core of his philosophy. Everything is done by hand or, if not by hand, by donkey. He loves donkeys – their intelligence, loyalty and hardworking nature. 15 years ago, he planted a small amount of the Bordeaux grape Petit Verdot as an experiment. He thought it would add colour to his wines, along with the Ancellotta, Italy's darkest-hued grape. His Petit Verdot performed so well, he bottled it solo and it's won many international awards. Enjoy it here – a stunner with his Mamma Agnes's handmade tortellini.
