This is a special, limited parcel of Rioja from the highly awarded Altos bodega. Bordeaux-born Jean-Marc Sauboua has been our Trophy-winning winemaker at Château La Clarière for many years. In 2006, he decided to start a winery of his own in the heights of Rioja. His aim: to make a Grand Cru style. With four Trophies and nearly 300 Golds, he seems to be succeeding. He has a great team, but even they managed to overlook this parcel of Reserva 2014, tucked away in the cellar. It's a wine of exceptional quality, apparent from how well it's aged – still full of vibrant fruit. Aged over a year in oak, this 9-year-old Seleccíon de Familia is tawny-hued, with creamy black fruit, damp earth notes, wood spice and polish. A great choice with lamb.
