There is no end of acclaim for the fine wines of Domaine de Mourchon. Jancis Robinson MW puts them “amongst the most interesting 5% of wine made today”. US critic Robert Parker is even more effusive: “This is a tour de force in winemaking from the Côtes du Rhône Villages of Séguret. Kudos to Domaine de Mourchon! These splendid cuvées are all worth buying by the caseload.” The estate was only founded in 1998 by the McKinlay family – 17 hectares of mature vines without a cellar or a name. The winery was completed in 2000 and winemaker Sebastien Magnouac joined them. Since then, the wines have had great success. A blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne, with a touch of Clairette and Bourboulenc, it is creamy and rounded.
