Morgon Réserve Louis Leyre-Loup 2018

Morgon AOC

It’s rare to find Morgon with 6 years’ maturity and still in peak form. It’s from Domaine de Leyre-Loup, founded 30 years ago by father and son Jacques and Christophe Lanson. A fine silky Beaujolais cru, with cherry, plum and leafy complexity.

Since 1993, Jacques Lanson and his son Christophe have run their small family estate, Domaine de Leyre-Loup. They have just 10 hectares of vines – mostly in Morgon, with a little Fleurie – all planted on the granite soils that make the finest cru Beaujolais wines. They are fully signed up to the sustainable practices of Terra Vitis and HVE and by respecting nature, believe they get the very most from their vineyards. This superb Morgon uses grapes from 50-year-old vines, planted in villages Corcelette, Bellevue and Douby. Wine Enthusiast once said of this wine, “this beautifully perfumed wine is ripe, structured and just about to be delicious.” Still fresh, the wine is silky with mellow fruit complexity – ideal with sea bass or chicken.
