Here’s a great opportunity to enjoy classy claret from the Left Bank’s premium Médoc, with eight years’ maturity. It’s the property of Rémi Lacombe, a former cereal farmer who in 1987 purchased both Châteaux Haut Canteloup and Les Mourlanes and unified them. The best grapes go into the Haut Canteloup, while the second wine is known as Les Mourlanes. Despite being overshadowed by the more fruit-forward 2015 vintage, the well-rated 2016 vintage has shown its worth. Wines from this year have been slow to develop, but today have opened out and make delicious drinking. Over half Merlot, supported by both Cabernets and aged 20 months in part-new (20%) oak barrels, this is a smooth, rounded Médoc, ideal with your Sunday roast.

"Great opportunity to enjoy the mellow fruit of 8 years' maturity in this Médoc" Jennie Perry
