Chat with Vinny
Best vintage yet of this cracking Cabernet Shiraz. Every year, the winemaker, this time Alex Trescowthick, chooses the best grapes. In 2019, these were two A-grade parcels from the Barossa and Coonawarra. Kirsch, eucalyptus and spice. Knockout.
Tasting notes
Dense black cherry, plum, velvety, weighty, with toasty vanilla spice
Aroma
Exotic kirsch, raspberry, eucalyptus and spice box
Allergy information

Henry Laithwaite is the originator of this wine, but with his own English Sparkling wine estate and a travel ban for us all, it was the turn of top RedHeads winemaker, Alex Trescowthick, to step up to the plate. He was handed a gift too. The Shiraz grapes are top notch for starters – from some of the winery's finest growers – usually destined for their Icon wines. The Cabernet is from Coonawarra, Australia's top region for this variety. What's more, it was a parcel destined for a larger cellar's flagship wine. It was wrongly delivered to RedHeads! The grower rang and apologised for the fortuitous accident. It's made a cracker of a wine. Add in the drought conditions of 2019 and tiny berries, and you can imagine it's powerful and weighty.
