In Tuscany’s prestigious Bolgheri region lies the organic winery of Grattamacco. Renowned for its world class red wines, it also crafts lauded whites such as this superb, barrel-aged Vermentino. Floral aromas, light spice, rich fruit and creamy oak.
Beyond the Label
Vibrant and complex; hints of creamy oak and a long finish
Grattamacco was one of the first estates to create ‘Super Tuscan’ wines in the late 1970s. Yet there’s more to the winery than groundbreaking reds. The celebrated Bolgheri appellation in which the 50 hectare property lies features sloping vineyards where cooling sea breezes and chalky clay soil provide near perfect growing conditions for the Vermentino grape. It yields wines such as this that exhibit an extraordinary purity of fruit, with an added freshness from organic production methods. Aromatic (think citrus and Alpine flowers), vibrant fruit, with hints of creamy spicy oak from barrique ageing and frequent stirring of the lees. This is an exceptionally elegant, well structured, long flavoured white to accompany the finest seafood.
"Juicy lemon and grapefruit, all backed by cut grass, kiwi and honeydew melon"
