Chakana Estate may only have been founded in 2002, but with wines like this Chardonnay in their portfolio, they’ll be around for years to come. TV’s Oz Clarke is a massive fan, while Decanter described it as a "delicious fruit salad of a wine".

If you thought Argentina only made great reds, this immaculate Chardonnay demands that you re-evaluate your position. Chakana is the Inca name for the Southern Cross, and the winery was founded on the day of the year when the cross appears vertical in the sky. Everything about this wine oozes quality, style and grace. It’s from hand tended, high altitude vineyards hidden in the cool climate Uco Valley. Winemaking is overseen by Alberto Antonini, a native of Tuscany named one of the world’s top 10 oenological consultants. The cellar is equipped with ultra modern concrete fermentation ‘eggs’, which capture the wine’s bright fruit character and a rich creaminess, while traditional oak casks lend a light shawl of oak. Great solo or with fish.

"Bright, glittering wine, marrying rich peach and golden-gage fruit with a dab of creamy oak" Oz Clarke
