The Van Zeller family have been crafting the world’s finest ports since 1715. Their Quinta do Noval 1931 was named one of the top two wines of the 20th century. In 2007 the family branched out into table wines at their Barão de Vilar estate, wanting to show that the Douro can also make reds and whites as fine as any other top region. Alvaro van Zeller is winemaker – he took over much of the winemaking responsibilities at his family’s estates at an early age. They aren't just confined to the Douro either – when they spot outstanding grapes in another region, they'll bag those too. This is a blend of juicy Alicante, dark spicy Touriga Nacional and blackberry liquorice Syrah, barrel aged for six months for complexity. Great for hearty dishes.
